The market for 3D camera technology has boomed with a growing number of businesses taking advantage of the impressive images which are captured.
That’s why we’ve invited Wheeler and Lai Chartered Surveyors to share about their experience using the technology, just in case your business is interested in 3D camera technology too.
If you’re interested in developing other tech-related areas of your business, such as with IT Support, speak to us anytime.
Here’s what Sau-Wan Lai had to say…
As commercial property agents, we understand the importance of being able to showcase buildings and properties to prospective occupiers and owners, and the covid-19 pandemic has really demonstrated that being physically present is no longer the only means of showcasing.
The use of visual aids such as photography and video have always been used to provide you with what a property looks like, but these have limits in terms of access and dimensional restrictions.
What this global pandemic has enabled is the progression and evolution of the 3D camera and videography, to enable you to “have a virtual” viewing of a property, to immerse yourself more in the way the office or shop looks from within the four walls, to enable you to “walk through” the corridors and rooms, giving you a better sense of volume, space and motion.
Here, I can tell you the top 3 advantages of having a 3D camera in our marketing bag and how this technology benefits your business, your clients and customers.
- Creating a 3D Tour provides the viewer with more visual cues and aids, to enable them to “look around” the room, and get a sense of setting, lighting and placement in relation to the street or the rest of the building. This gives them control of where they want to look and what aspects of view they choose. Whereas a photo or video only captures on element and does not give the you the control to move around.
- With the global pandemic restricting travel at times, or for personal safety, physical viewings were not always possible, and with 3D tours created, it means that the viewing process is aided and enhanced by giving you the opportunity to walk around the property when you choose, at your own convenience and in your own space. It is convenient to you, even after-hours, at weekends, you can share the tour with your friend, family members who might not otherwise be able to accompany you on a physical viewing.
- Bringing buildings and properties to life in 3D aspect to your prospective occupiers makes the property accessible. This not only enables prospective clients who have limited mobility to look around, but also people who are geographically restricted, can also view the property. For example, we recently had a client who had a broken leg and would have found it a challenge to ascend stairs, but with a 3D tour they were able to view ground floor as well as upper floors. With also commercial property investors and owners on an international world, having a virtual tour also enables you to view the property whilst you are on holiday, on a business trip from anywhere in the world. With a 3D virtual tour, Wheeler & Lai can bring the property to you.
Those are our most commonly found benefits to having a 3D virtual tour to showcase a commercial property.
Another perk with the advancement of software with the 3D cameras, are the abilities to take real measurements of a space, to enable 3D modelling of changes to a room, these help occupiers with space planning and business development in commercial spaces.
At Wheeler & Lai Chartered Surveyors, our investment in the Theta Ricoh has enabled us to offer our agency clients the opportunity to have 3D virtual tours, not only to market the property for sale or to let, but also commercial property management clients who we look after their tenants and properties on their behalf, have views of their assets.
Where they would not normally attend an occupied space which is let for several years, on our inspections we can provide them with a 3D capture of their property for them to see and give them peace of mind that it is being looked after.
Likewise, we have been fortunate enough to be local to support a local charity Dementia Support by providing them with a 3D tour of their Community Space.
This enables their users and carers to be familiar with the space prior to attending, which may give comfort to those that are unsure of new unfamiliar places.
Having a 3D camera to provide virtual tours in this new normal has created opportunities and provided many with a convenient, safe and welcoming way to interact with us and with the buildings we deal with.
There’s no going back, only looking forward to more projects.
